information is that the property was bounded on the West by the River Marden. It would
seem the sale was brought about following the death of Anthony Crook who
lived at the farmhouse. Large [approx

having been folded for so long, but you'd be hard-pressed to find another

James Bible, printed in 1637. This
was the family bible of the Drake family. Signatures and personal narrations
appear on various pages. I purchased this bible, along with other items,
during a visit to Gravesend in Kent, England. The
outer cover is in poor condition, but the pages are in quite good condition,
considering it's age, which is in excess of 367
years. The
family names have not been written in an ordered manner at the front or back
of the bible, but appear on various pages throughout. The names mentioned are
as follows; Ffrancis Drake Lydia Drake Nathaniel
Drake Richard Drake Phillip
Drake John
Drake Noah
Nath Drake John Hakins Thomas
Billett of Rowde
Edward Billett of Studly John
Tice Jefferies
Drake was born 24th September 1730. From
the I.G.I. Jefferies Drake is shown as
being the son of Francis and Sarah Drake of Rowde,
Wiltshire, and baptised on the 24th September
1730. Other family members are Sarah
(b1737), Richard (b1738), Francis (b 1740), Nathaniell
(b 1744), Phillip (b1746) and Abigail (b 1748). |
