and received at any Turnpike or Turnpikes erected or to be erected in, on, or
upon the Sides of the Turnpike Roads leading from Brimingham through the Town
of Wednesbury, and also to the said Place called Great Bridge, and from thend
to the said End of the said Lane called Gibbet Lane, and to the said Place
called the Nether Trindle near Dudley, shall, after the defraying their
Proportion of the charges of passing this present Act, and other necessary

"An
Act for Repairing the Roads leading from Birmingham through Warwick to
Warmington, and from Birmingham through Stratford upon Avon to Edghill in the
County of Warwick" "Whereas
the Highways or Roads leading from Birmingham in the County of Warwick, that
is to say, to the Borough of Warwick, and so to Warmington, and the utmost
Limits of the said County on Edghill, and also from Birmingham aforesaid to
henley, and through Stratford upon Avon to Edghill in the said County, by
reason of the many heavy Carriages frequently pass through the same, are
become so ruinous and bad, that in the Winter Season teh said Roads are
dangerous to Travellers..." This
Act names the Trustees and lists the Tolls to be paid by each type of
vehicle, with exemptions and penalties for avoidance, details how the
accounts are to be kept, what the surveyors may and may not do, who qualifies
for statute work and penalties for avoidance, etc. First meeting of the Trustees is to take
place at the Swan at Warwick. |
