Last Will & Testament of John Addeson, Clothier, of Sudbury,
Suffolk A very interesting document indeed. This is the Will of John Addeson
who must have been dying when the will was written (or very unfortunate) as
he was dead within a few weeks of the date of the Will. Mr Addeson leaves his
possessions in the care of his brother Thomas Addeson and his capital to his
wife and children. It refers to his properties in the parish of St. Peter in
Sudbury, these being outhouses, maltings, cisterns, barns, stables, gardens
etc. At the end of the Will is the addition that the Will was Proved in April
1755 after John's death before the oathes of his brother and widow. There are
several signatures at the bottom of the document and 10 embossed stamps
pressed into the paper, each being for the value of one shilling. At the top
of the document it reads, "Extracted from the Registry of the
Prerogative Court of Canterbury".
