Document is an assignment of a mortgage in trust to attend the inheritance of a parsonage and lands in East Peckham purchased by Mr Richard Toft  for Henry Whittenhall Esquire Land relating to Peckham Place Estate, East Peckham, Hadlow, Nettlestead in the county of Kent and Goose Green Farm, East Peckham Dated 3rd May 1728. Parties: Sir Thomas Style of Wateringbury, John Boteler of Teston  and Thomas Whittenhall of East Malling Document signed by: Sir Thomas Style, John Boteler, Thomas Whittenhall, Flora Whittenhall, Richard Toke and John Tokshunt Witnesses: Elizabeth Boteler, P. Boteler, Anthony Abbott, William Gates, Ann Garston, Thomas Woodcock, William Porter Condition: V. good, folded for storage. Wateringbury Place is a lovely Georgian house built by Thomas Style in 1707 to replace the older building. The property remained in the Style family until 1851 and then returned to it after a break, although it is now in other hands again.

 

Sir Philip Boteler, 4th Bt. was born circa 1695.1 He was the son of Sir Philip Boteler, 3rd Bt. and Anne des Bouverie.1 He married Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Thomas Williams, in May 1720 in St. Anne's Church, Blackfriars, London, England.1 He died on 22 January 1772, without surviving issue.1 He was buried in Teston, Kent, England.1 His will was probated in February 1772.1

An INDENTURE OF MORTGAGE dated the 28th day of November 1879 made between George William Andrews of 4 Station Road Westgate on Sea in the County of Kent Glass & China Warehouseman of the one part and Edward Dyason of Her Majesty's Customs London Gentleman of the other part All That piece or parcel of land lying and bring at Westgate on Sea in the Parish of Saint John the Baptist in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent on the North side of a new Road called Station Road Together with the messuage or dwellinghouse stable and Coach House erected thereon being the second house westwards leading from the new road called Station Road leading to Adrian Square including the Corner House and known as No. 4 Station Road aforesaid

 

The Indenture is a double page Document with a Transfer of Mortgage written on the back.   The only defect is a tiny hole in the first Indenture which appears to have been there since it was written.   I have shown this in the photographs. Otherwise the Deed is in excellent condition   The Document measures 26 inches by 22 inches.  It has 2 wax seals on the main Indenture and is signed by the Mortgagor.  There are 7 small seals on the Document written on the back of the main Indenture.
