Architects Drawings For The Herries Family Home at St. Julian's, Sevenoaks. Comprising
21 hand drawn, and in some cases hand painted Architects floor and exterior
plans. All are full size - the largest being around 900x630mm. This was a
large family house of its day with a slightly gothic appearance. The plans
detail different rooms and floors, and are a mixture of final working ink and
watercolour drawings and preparatory pencil drawings. All have anotations on
them, either technical details, figures or room
plan, one is also dated as you will see from the photographs. I have just
looked up this building on Google and it is now a Private Members Club - you
may be interested to see what the building looks like in 2007! It mentions on
the web site that the Herries Family used the building as a family home until
after the Second World War. The plans have recently been discovered and as
you can see are in mixed condition with some soiling which I have not tried
to remove. Several also have tears - some severe, however the beauty of this
is that it is a complete history of a lovely late Georgian house from
planning to finish. |
