This indenture
was produced in 1899 and commences with the will of John Hotson who leaves
his property to his wife and children. Unfortunately he owes a considerable
sum of money, so much that the deeds to his property are in the posession of
the bank. This indenture records a mortgage of £2,200 so that the family can
keep their properties. The parties involved in the agreement are Eleanor Mary
Hotson, Arthur Wales Hotson, Mary Eleanor Drake, John Herbert Hotson, The
National Provincial Bank, and Isabella Jolly of Torquay. The land and
property involved is substantial and every item is listed on the four page
vellum indenture. It includes 51 acres in Bunwell Parish, Church Farm in
Carleton Rode which amounts to 104 acres, 151 acres at Pulham St Mary the
Virgin and Pulham St Mary Magdalene. The number of fields, farms, and persons
named is too numerous to mention. The document is signed by the five Hotsons
and there are six wax seals and a bank wafer seal. A very fine and
informative document. |
