hand written 18C paper Obligation Bond document dated 8th August 1758 during
the reign of King George II between Joseph Hepworth Carlinghew in the County
of York Carpenter and Joseph Meggitt of Wakefield in the said County Book
Seller and Stationer in the sum of one hundred pounds. Other names mentioned
include: Henry Goldthorp, Thos Twigg & John Ellis Comprising a single
sheet of paper approx. 8” x 13” bearing the usual long-term storage folds
with tears along major folds & edge nicks, but still in one piece. All
text fully legible for transcription. Bearing one 1 shilling embossed revenue
stamp and a single red wax cipher seal in complete and sound condition
countersigned by Joseph Hepworth. |

handwritten indenture of a lease of property in Barnoldswick, Yorkshire (now
Lancashire since 1974) Dated 14th April 1828. The property, named Hay farm,
is leased by a Thomas Cockshott of Skipton, John Cockshott of Branwell and
Michael John Mason of Essex to a John Cockshott of Bolton and a Joseph Green
of Manchester for one year. The one page (21 1/2"x26") document is
signed and red wax sealed by the three men giving the lease. The legal
document has been witnessed by a John Hartley and a John Hill and it has been
registered in Wakefield whose official has signed it. There is some foxing
but the Georgian item is all complete and legible together with George 4th

William Steer, Clerk, Mrs. Dorothy Robinson, etc. It details who should have what shares in
the new company . It details how the new company should be run, etc. "Owners to answer Damages done by
their Vessels", "Owners Name to set on the Outsides of their
Vessels", etc. "And hwereas
Henry broadhead is by Lease possessed of certain Corn Mills in Doncaster
aforesaid, with Salmon Decks belonging to the same...Salmon Decks at Sandal,
or any other Salmon Decks, which shall or may be erected below Doncaster Corn
Mills...", "That if any Person or Persons shall open mexborough
Lock in the Months of June, July, August, and September, for the Passage of
any Boat or Boats, Vessel or Vessels, not capable of bearing in the whole

greatly frequented by Persons resorting to Scarborough aforesaid, from most
Ports of England, for the benefit of the Mineral Waters; and having been much
used by heavy Carriages; the same are become very bad, and in many Parts
thereof are very ruinous, narrow, and much out of Repair; and in the Winter
Season, so very deep, that Coaches, Waggons, and other Carriages, cannot pass
along the same, without great Difficulty; and are also dangerous for Persons
travelling on Horse-back; and are in many Parts thereof, very incommodious..."

im offering a one of a kind piece of history. this item was found in a mans home
here in new england. it says on the outside of the letter john somone to
peter wood lease for a year 1742 january 10th. This is fully authentic and is
written on a real thick waxy paper or atleast it feels that way when you open
it up the writing is amazing it opens
up to be about 20 inches long by 13 inches wide and is just great writing.

Act to explain and amend an Act passed in the Fifth year of His present
Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act to enlarge the Pier and Habour of
Scarborough, in the County of York; and for making the said Act more effectual"
This document extends the term of the previous Act. It names the new Commissioners and
specifies their duties. Their first
meeting is to be held at "the Widow Stockdale's...known by the Name of
the Sign of The Old Globe", "Charges of this Act to be first paid,
and Debts owing to the Workmen", "Commissioners having any Place of
Profit from the Duties, not to act", "£5 Penalty on Persons
prejudicing the Habour by emptying Ballast, &c, or otherwise",
"And whereas...no Valuation was made, or preteneded to be made, of the
Stone lying upon or belonging to the Waste of the said Town; nor was the same
included in the Estimate of the Expence of the said Pier; but it was always
understood, that the Trustees therein named had full Liberty to take and carry
away what Quantities of Stone they thought proper for the Use of the said
Piers and Harbour gratis...to dig, carry away, or cause to be dug, taken, and
carried away, out of and from any of the Waste Grounds, Beach, or Strand,
belonging to the said Corporatin of Scarborough, any Quantity of the like
Kind of Stones or Pebbles...paying to the said Corporation Five Shillings by
the Year...", etc. 13 pages of original document which has been disbound
