there has been anciently and are now Houses or Places in which rock Salt has
been and is refined or made into White Salt, at heybridge, Colchester, and
Maningtree, in the County of Essex, at Ipswich, Woodbridge, Walderswick and
Southwold in the County of Suffolk, and those Places, and the Country
thereabouts, having no opportunity of being supplied with other Salt than
Salt refined or made from Rock Salt, and as it may happen that the Refiners
of Rock Salt at those Houses or Places may not make sufficient Quantities of
White Salt to supply the Country thereabouts, or may hold up what they do
make to an exorhitant Price, knowing no other Persons whatsoever can, by reason
of the above recited Act, erect or set up any new Refinery...",

large rolled-up family tree made up of sheets of paper stuck together (the
photo only shows part of it!) of the Alston family of Suffolk. It covers the 1500s to the 1700s. It looks as though it may have been created
in the late 1700s/early 1800s and has pencil and pen notations in different
handwritings made during the 1800s updating the information contained on it. It has a separate piece of paper with an
additional branch on it. The left hand
side is very grubby and has some damage, otherwise good condition. |

DISS MANNING WORLLEDGE LYUS INDENTURE This document grants the freehold of
substantial lands of an estate in Pulham Norfolk and also records a covenant
(agreement) to surrender the copyhold parts of further land. It is drawn
between William Manning of Abergavenny, John Worlledge of Ipswich, and George
Lyus of Diss. Worlledge lends £4,000 to Manning which is to be repaid in the
following year. Offered as security by Manning is the freehold of land in
Pulham St Mary the Virgin and Pulham St Mary Magdalen. All the land and
property, amounting to 151 acres, is listed on the schedule. In all almost 40
fields are named. Manning also covenants with Worlledge and Lyus as to what
happens to the land which has been conditionally surrendered if the debt is
not repaid. There is then an additional indenture produced in 1876 stating
that the principal sum is still owing. Manning had also borrowed a further
£5,015 in 1863 which he repaid in 1864. This further indenture records the
perayment od the debt. In all there are almost 6 sides of text produced on
four sheets of vellum. The document is in excellent condition, is signed by
the central characters, and there are 7 wax seals: a very nice document with
lenty to interest. |

document records a mortgage on two recently built houses at Colwyn Bay in the
parish of Llandrillo yn Rhos. The interested parties are Rowland Owen, a Colwyn
Bay builder, John Churton a Rhyl auctioneer, and Henry Churton a Chester
surgeon. Here, Rowland Owen receives £1,900 from John Churton. It is produced
on two vellum sheets and apart from slight fading it is in very good
condition. There is a later addition dated 1888 where Henry Churton receives
£800 from Edward Henry Denton of Bury St Edmunds. The main document is signed
by Rowland Owen and has a wax seal. There are eight further wax seals and six
signatures making it an attractive document. |

RESERVE This is a handwritten, 4-page vellum indenture, dated 12th January
1863, between The Reverend John Edward Lemuel Schreiber of Barham, Suffolk of
the first part; Lucy Phillipps of Barham Hall of the second part and The
Reverend Michael Turner of Cotton, Suffolk of the third part. The indenture
concerns a settlement on the marriage of Rev. Schreiber to Lucy Phillipps and

in Blakenham and Baylham. There are blue revenue stamps on each page of the
