THIS 1686 DOCUMENT ON VELLUM STARTS “IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN JOHN GREEN IPSWICH IN THE COUNTY OF SUFFOLK APOTHECARY”. (A Will?) THERE IS A SMALLER DOCUMENT ATTACHED TO IT WITH THE REMAINS OF A RED SEAL. THERE IS A HOLE WHERE THE VELLUM APPEARS NATURALLY TO HAVE HAD A HOLE AS ON THE BACK IS A SMALL AREA OF CREASE AS IF THE VELLUM WERE THIN AT THAT TIME. THE WRITING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AFFECTED AS IF THE WRITER HAS WORKED ROUND THE HOLE BUT WE CANNOT BE SURE. WE DO NOT WANT TO DISTURB THE SMALLER DOCUMENT WHICH HAS REMAINS OF A RED SEAL AND THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT NEEDS CAREFUL UNFOLDING AND SO WE DID NOT WISH TO MANIPULATE IT TOO MUCH.
