Newark, Nottingham 1367. Latin Quitclaim whereby Richard Wade of Wympthorp and his wife Dionisia transfer land at South Muskham ('Southmuscham') and South Carlton ('Southcarleton') near Newark, 10 lines in a fine chancery hand on parchment, approx. 100 x 33mm., cut for two seal tags, two small worm holes affecting one letter and a little light staining but in excellent condition for its age, together with a small group of miscellaneous documents relating to Yorkshire, including a note referring to free schooling in Richmond, a manuscript account of the murder of the Monk of Whitby in the 12th century, written in a fine copperplate hand, probably 18th century, three early 17th century letters probably written from the district of Norwood, south of Rotherham (with full transcriptions) and a vellum lease by the Duke of Hamilton to several individuals of Dophinholm Mill, Lancs., dated 1830, with an interesting schedule which contains much detail of mill parts, etc.

Attractive document on paper 1720, being the lease by John Cottam, butcher of East Retford to his brother, George Cottam, also a butcher, of a property on the east side of the street called Church Gate in Retford. Bearing the marks of John and Rebecca Cottam (who clearly could not write), approx 18 x 12ins, three minor holes affecting three words but overall in fine fresh condition, framed and glazed.

You are bidding on a very old & interesting document entitled "This Indenture" and dated 7th January 1836. The Document contains lovely Old-English Hand written script of approx 550 words outlining a Lease for one year between Henry Charles Little of Southwell and Newark upon trent, Both in the county of Nottingham, Who was a Tailor and Thomas Marriot of the town of Nottingham who was a Wholesale Draper. The lease refers to the consideration of the sum of Five Shillings of lawful money of Great Britain between the two parties. The document also mentions the rent of one pepper coin only (If the same shall be lawfully demanded) At the foot of the document there is the signature of Henry Charles Little together with a red wax seal. Also included is a Blue Revenue stamp and Nottingham ink "crown stamp" dated 14th October 1835. A nice old original folded document, Measures 16" x 24" with clear handwriting and in good condition for its age, Some 167 years old.

Offered is this one page vellum document dated 6 November 1851. It measures 23 inches long by 30.5 inches wide. It is between John Bennett and Mary Bullivant. It is a mortgage of premises in Hounds Gate in the Town of Nottingham in the County of Nottinghamshire. It retains its revenue stamp and two wax seals with the signatures of the above.

You are bidding on a very old & interesting document entitled "This Indenture" and dated 8th January 1836. The Document contains lovely Old Hand written script of approx 3000 words spread over 3 pages of old document paper. The three sheets are fixed together at the base with tiny hand tied bows. This indenture outlines a conveyance of real and personal estates in trust for the benefit of creditors. Made between Henry Charles Little of Southwell and Newark upon trent, Both in the county of Nottingham, Who was a Tailor and Thomas Marriott of Nottingham, Who was a Wholesale draper, and other listed persons to whom he was in debt. The document details that Henry little is unable pay the whole amount of his said debts and has agreed to assign all of his Lands, Properties and belongings to his creditors. It instructs the sale of all of his assets through public auction or private contract for the "best price or most money". The final page of the indenture lists 61 creditors to whom Henry Little is indebted to. The document itemises the individual amount of money due to each creditor. The creditors have placed their signatures next to the agreed sums of money due to them. There are a considerable number of wax seals on this document (Qty 35), adjacent to the creditors amounts & signatures. Also included are three Blue Revenue stamps and Nottingham ink "crown stamps" dated between 11th November 1835 and 29th December 1835. This is a very interesting and unusual indenture, Given the quantity of original wax seals, Signatures and Monies owed. A nice old original folded document, consisting of three pages. Measures 28" x 24" with clear handwriting and in good condition for its age, Some 167 years old.

Offered is this two page vellum document dated 2 November 1861. It measures 23.25 inches long by 29.75 inches wide. It is between John Johnson, Auguste Noel Achille Vogue and Hodgkinson Morris. It deals with the transfer of mortgage of a bakehouse and hereditaments in Hounds Gate Nottingham. It has the revenue stamps and wax seals with the three signatures of those mentioned. It is a clean and well written document.

Handwritten English vellum indenture dated 1831 being the conveyance of three cottages in Worksop in the County of Nottingham between Vincent Henry Eyre, Esquire, of the first part; and The Most Noble Bernard Edward Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshall and Hereditary Marshall of England, of the second part; and John Ball of Nottingham, Blacksmith, of the third part; and Francis Sissons, a Stationer, of the fourth part. The transaction pertains to property under an Act of Parliament from the reign of George III and an additional document is attached relating to the property and the Act. Nicely penned with fancy printed vignette, blue revenue stamp with insert, tax stamp, and two red wax seals. One seal is signed by the Duke of Norfolk impressioned with Coat of Arms. Docketed on verso. Fine condition, measures 31 x 24".

Handwritten English vellum indenture dated 1804 during the reign of George III being the Bargain and Sale of the Manor and Lordship of Rand in the County of Lincoln between Harrington Hudson of York, Esquire, of the one part; and Richard Burden of Nottingham, esquire, and James Hall of Middlesex, Gentleman, both of the second part. A Schedule of the Manoral properties is attached as well. Beautifully penned on two leaves, fancy printed vignette with Stationers mark, three blue revenue stamps, tax stamps, and three red wax seals on green cloth tags. Very Good condition, mild discoloration, measures 28 x 25".

Here is an Indenture on vellum dated 28th September 1874 being a Conveyance of land and three messuages being nos. 10, 12 & 14 Fawkner Street, Pendlebury in the County of Lancaster. The contract is between John Boyes of Ordsall, Nottingham, Gentleman, and George Boyes of Fawkner Street, Pendlebury, Merchant. Other names mentioned in reference to an earlier Indenture are Robert Luckman,Isaac Mawson and William Cheetham. The document opens out to approx 30" x 23", is beautifully handwritten, has two original wax seals and a five pounds revenue stamp. There is also a plan of the premises which mentions the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. In excellent condition.
