[Hewett
family] Abstract of Title to [unstated] Property in Moreton Morland &
Eagle This undated
but evidently 17th century abstract gives very brief details of land
transactions ranging from 18Eliz [1576] to 19Car2 [1668]. William [described
as Citizen] was the first of several Hewetts to be involved in these
properties and is mentioned as acquiring the lands by conveyance in 35Eliz
[1593]. Later on there is hint of a challenge that this 'conveyance' was
merely a lease. Little information can be gleaned about the Hewetts, though
William had two sons, John and Solomon. William also seems to have had a
brother [Sir] John who somehow acquired the rights to the properties.
Manuscript on paper which, as folded, became stuck together and has been
holed by careless unfolding with the loss of some text. However, abstracts of
this age are unusual. (ref 554/26) |

Bundle of Documents relating to Pasture Farm 60 documents,
all paper, ranging in dates from 1822 to 1845. The collection consists mainly
of letters, notes, invoices etc. Much of the paperwork preludes the sale of
the farm by auction in 1844, as a result of which local draper Edward
Worthington acquired this 70-odd acre farm for £3250. Tenants include
Stanley, Shuttleworth, Hopkinson. There are two abstracts of title (lists of
deeds), one of which gives details of transactions going back to 1721, and a
poster announcing the sale to be held at the City Arms Hotel in Lincoln on
13.9.1844. The farm is described as being 'bounded by the River Foss Dyke on
or towards the North, by the Broadholme Drain on or towards the East and by
the road leading from Skillingthorpe to Saxilby on or towards the West'. The

condition having been stored in the same Safe for well over 20 years. The
