A 3 page solicitor's copy of the
will of William Nicolls of the Borough of Stafford gentleman dated 2nd
February 1750. It refers to lots of
properties in Salop and Staffordshire.
William was married twice and his eldest son by his first marriage
"has already a reasonable provision settled upon him after the Death of
his Mother and if his Conduct and Behaviour deserves he will in all humane
probability be possessed for a large estate...". He mentions his younger children by his
second marriage and several other people. The cover is grubby and it is a bit
frayed at the edges. |

interest And Assignment of the residue of a term of ninety nine years for
better securing the same. The parties concerned are James Worledge
(accountant) of Kidderminster in the county of Worchester of the first part
And John Pritchard (gentleman) of Broseley in the county of Salop of the
second part And George Hallen (gentleman) of Kidderminster aforesaid of the
third part and Edward Nicholls (weaver) of above of the fourth part and John
Thomas Smith (gentleman) of the same of the fifth part And Thomas Jevons of
the same of the sixth part. The document consist of
three pages which contains six red wax seals together with five signatures. |

Apprenticeship indenture of James Brettell, son of John Brettell of
Halesowen, Shropshire, maltster, bound to Joseph Allen of the borough of
Warwick, grocer, for seven years on payment of £21 for which Allen will
provide meat, drink, washing, lodging, but “wearing apparell excepted”, D.s.
“Joseph Allen” and others, manuscript, 1½pp., receipted on verso, small tear
along 1 fold, browned, wax seal, folio, 1st November 1729 (2). Thomas Varnam,

1701 WILLIAM III INDENTURE IN ENGLISH
ON PARCHMENT A complete indenture on parchment in excellent condition;
printed heading, remainder in a fine, very readable hand and bearing a wax
seal with signet stamp. The indenture is between Thomas Harris of
Kiderminster, Chandler and Josiah Baker, upholsterer of Shrewsbury for a
dwelling house, a large garden walled with brick and stable brewhouse
workhouse etc near Coventry Street in Kidderminster. Ground rent one
peppercorn payable on the Feast of Pentecost. The parchment is approximately
15" (37 cms) by 12" (31 cms) and folds down to a small parcel
3.5" (9 cms) by 5" (13 cms) and carries two duty stamps. The
outside is discoloured in proportion to its age of over three hundred years,
but the inside is clean and fresh. |

1829 This document records a
conveyance of several parcels of land within the Manor of Newcastle in the
County of Radnor. John Whittaker of Grove Radnorshire as Lord of the Manor of
Newcastle sells the land to David Griffiths of Ludlow Salop. The lands are
near Beggars Bush and on farms called Pautsly and Bush Farm. The document is
written on one vellum sheet which has a fine wax seal and a signature. There
is some yellowing to the document but it is clearly legible. |

hand written 17C paper Obligation Bond document dated 30th May 1698 during
the reign of King William III between Mary Griffiths, Anne Griffithes & Elizabeth
Griffithes the three daughters of Griffith Griffiths of Welshpool in the
County of Montgomery tanner and Sir Uvedale Corbett of Longnor in the County
of Salop Baronett. Witnesses: Richard Crompton, Randle Evans & W
(Bless?). A very clean document in excellent condition with usual long-term
storage folds. Comprising a single sheet of period water marked paper forming
a document approx. 7½” x 12” with all text fully legible for transcription.
Ideal dimensions for display. Bearing a single embossed VI pence revenue
stamp plus a three red wax seals (Stags head in relief) in complete and sound
condition countersigned by Mary, Anne & Elizabeth Griffithes. |
