the history of the land so that the Hospital Committee - who have some
authority over the outcome of the dispute - can make a judgement. The opinion
of the Committee is then recorded on the reverse. THIS IS A COPY DOCUMENT BY

between: Gilbert Francklyn, (of the City of London) His wife Edith Crisp
Molineux (of Garboldisham, Norfolk) Anthony Baron (of Higham, Essex) Thomas
Lucas (of London) Because it's written in old fashioned English, it really

marriage agreement. The fours pages are headed with the words
"Survivor", "Rent", "Tenement" and "This

Manorial Court Roll - Framingham Earl, Norfolk, England - 1791 MANOR COURT
BARON DOCUMENT DETAILING ADMISSION OF HENRY UTTING, GENTLEMAN TO THE MANOR OF
FRAMINGHAM EARL, NORFOLK, AT A GENERAL COURT BARON OF THE MOST NOBLE CHARLES
DUKE OF NORFOLK, LORD OF THE SAID MANOR, BEFORE GARDINER HARWOOD, STEWARD TO
THE LORD OF THE MANOR, HELD THE 26TH DAY OF OCTOBER1766. This document
records the surrender of copyhold lands held by John Utting of Borough Saint
Peter, Farmer, to the Lord of the Manor of Framingham Earl, Norfolk. It goes
on to record the reassignment of the use of the lands, by the Lord, to Henry
Utting (John's son). This was effectively an inheritance of the land and a
change in tenant. There is a very interesting and detailed description of 4 or
5 pieces of land and cottages within Framingham. Many field names and
neighbouring properties are described that should enable the exact location
of the lands to be determined. For example, one cottage built at the back of
the rectory to the North, and abutting a wood to the west, can be identified
on the 1891 OS map of the area (see below). Handwritten
in English on vellum. Two shilling and threepence revenue stamp and tax
stamp. 32 by 44 cm. Good condition. |
