sheets 5 red seals An indenture concerning the release of the Right Honourable Thomas Henry Sutton Sotheron
Estcourt Member of Parliament, Charles Watson Townley and the Reverand
William Gale from the children of the Late Colonel Braddyll.
On 3 sheets of vellum each measuring 2 feet 3 inches by 1 foot 10 inches, the
vellum is excellent condition. There is nice calligraphy around the words
This Indenture. At the foot of the document there are 5 red wax seals each
with a signature with a further 5 signatures on the reverse. There are also a
total of 3 blue duty stamps, 2 x ten shillings stamps and a one pound and
fifteen shillings stamp each with a piece of silver attached. Also on the
document are 3 ink stamps with a crown and marked LONDON. |

Hutchinson Street, Widnes." Medium: Manuscript
in English on vellum. Condition: Good/Very Fine Document Size
: 2 pages approx 24" wide by 28" high Date: 28/02/1878 This document, dated 28th.
February 1878, was produced by J. Makin & Co., Law Stationers, Liverpool,
is hand written on two pages of vellum, still in very good condition. Its
beautiful scripts with ornate headings mention “Robert Coates of St. Helens,
Lancaster, Wholesale Grocer” to “John Woosey of
Cardiff in the County of Glamorgan, Merchant.” This
Indenture of Lease is for the land bounded by Hutchinson Street and
Wellington Street, Widnes. It is for securing
£204.9.0 plus interest, subject to a prior mortgage for £716.0.0 and interest.
This attractive document comes in two pages (24” wide by 28” high) and has
two small red wax seals, a paper stamp and embossed stamp and is signed by
both parties. |

This indenture was made on the
24th September, 1781, between Thomas William Coke, Esq,

of Crompsall and refers to 26 acres of farming land
in Lancashire and the payment of rent of £38.10.0. yearly. The beneficiaries appear to be three
children - Ann Bowker (8 years), Hannah Bowker (6 years) and John Bowker
(4 years). the children of Charles Bowker. (I hazard a guess these are the heirs of Thomas
Coke). This indenture is I think of vellum and is in a fragile
condition. The seal has damaged the
document where it has been folded and there are some tears. |

This is an old Ulverston
indenture dated 9th Sept 1834 between Robert Ashburner
of Ulverston aged 18 years, his father Thomas, and

for a Ships Carpenters. Very interesting, laying out the reponsibilities
of both the tradesman and the apprentice. Requires a bit more research. Very
