Multiple
sheet vellum document of some twenty sheets 1783, relating to the sale of the
manors and lordships of Maiden Earley, Berks, together with all the lands of
the manor, The document sets out the sale of the manor, listing the land,
farms etc together with another multiple sheet vellum indenture dated 1878
made under the Settled Estates Act, detailing the sale of the Maiden Early
Estate, with a large fine hand drawn map of the estate. It is unusual to have
two documents from different ages relating to the same estate, and as such
the present documents will doubtless provide local historians with
considerable information not only on land holding of the estate but how the
estate changed in almost 100 years. The Maiden Earley Estate is now the
modern day Early area of |
