autograph letters to and by Col. Thomas de Havilland, 1830, concerning a
number of financial and property matters, and particularly concerning Thomas
and Joshua Priaulx, and also involving Mary Harriett Smith, whom Priaux
married. Priaulx bought the Candie Estate (now Candie Gardens in St Peter
Port) in 1836. A fascinating correspondence which will yield much new
information on Guernsey at this time. |

17th-19th c. all relating to Guernsey, including an accord on vellum between
Guernsey and Jersey, dated 1695, signed by Charles Andros, with a good
impression of his seal, manuscript copies of Government edicts affecting
Guernsey, dated 1608, 1745 and 1745, a manuscript bond dated 1766, a small
group of early 18th c. legal papers, including an affidavit signed by Henry
Saumarez and Nicholas Galpin, a manuscript minute book 1803, with entries by
Martin De Haviland and Emerce de St Dalmas, a manuscript letter of 1819
requesting that Major Lukis of the North Regiment should be brought before a
court of enquiry for his conduct, a printed notice relating to St Peter Port
(early 19th c.), and a printed legal document relating to a case between the
guardians of James de Havilland and others against Jaquina de Saumarez, early
18th c. 15 separate pieces in all. |
