documents relating to Australia, mid 19th c, including a letter of Patrick
Maloney from Melbourne enclosing a bill of exchange on the Bank of Australia
(still present),a letter from Thomas Feldwick in Greenwich to his son in
India commenting on shipping movements in Australia, a letter of 1850 making
interesting comments on local plant life in the Glenmona area and a letter of
Sir George Strickland Kingston to a Reading (England) bookseller dated 1835
trying to persuade him to become a land agent in England - this was part of
Kingston's attempt to promote settlement in South Australia and two letters
from Government House in Brisbane dated 1898, mentioning a political spat
taking place at the time |
